Advocacy
The Advocacy Project at Edmund Rice Centre Nairobi (ERCN) is dedicated to raising awareness, promoting understanding, and championing the rights of individuals with special needs, particularly those from the Kibera community.
Our Focus Areas:
- Awareness – Educating the public on the rights, abilities, and potential of persons with disabilities through community outreach and radio sessions on Pamoja FM, which help spread messages of inclusion to a wider audience.
- Inclusivity – Promoting equal participation in education and community life, ensuring learners with disabilities are accepted, supported, and empowered.
- Community Engagement – Involving parents, caregivers, and local groups to build supportive environments through initiatives such as peer counselling sessions for parents of children with disabilities.
- Policy Influence – Collaborating with government and stakeholders to enhance support and resources for special needs education.
Together, these efforts make ERCN a strong voice for inclusion, equality, and dignity for all learners.
